Elections

The Republicrats ( Democrats and Republicans ) agree on at least one thing, they do not want any other parties on the ballot. They use several strategies.

The first strategy is simple brain washing. Kids are taught in school that there are 2 parties. There are really more like 20. The “Kids Voting” program reenforces this view. Children are not taught to participate in getting a candidate on the ballot. They are being taught to choose from a list of candidates that someone else has given to them.

The next stratagem is to require excessive signature requirements on a nomination form. The argument is that only “credible” candidates should be on the ballot. Back in the days when ballots were counted by hand this may have been somewhat valid. Today ballots are produced and counted by machine. The most Labor intensive and expensive part of the process is checking the names against the voting list, and that is the part that the Republicrats refuse to simplify.

Libertarian Robert Underwood Solution:

Drastically reduce the number of signature required and give people a choice of candidates.

For Municipal offices and State Representative, 10 signatures of registered voters is enough.

For State Senator, 20 signatures is enough.

For United States Representative and Governors Council, 100 signatures.

For state wide and US Senate, 100 signatures. To question related to municipalities, 100 signatures. Without a doubt any figures will be the result of a compromise. But the ballot access needs to be opened up to give people a greater voice.
